Daily Life

What marks Ivy Lodge out from other retirement homes? Most people who come here say it’s the warm-hearted, dedicated and long-serving team of carers, the home-from-home feel of the place and the fresh, clean surroundings.

Our team is totally committed to the wellbeing of residents and arranges a full range of stimulating activities, from craft classes and singalongs to theatre trips and excursions to local places of interest – visit our Facebook page to see the fun we’ve been having recently!

At Ivy Lodge the day starts at around 8am for most residents with a hot or cold breakfast, which can be eaten in the dining room or served in bed.

Our team will help with any washing and dressing requirements for the day – including grooming.  Our carers will then make or change the bedding.

If we’re not going out anywhere for the day then a selection of tea or coffee and cold drinks are served – always with a good choice of homemade cakes and biscuits!

The GP visits us at Ivy lodge every Wednesday afternoon and, of course, when needed. We also have visits from the District nurses most days and a chiropodist calls every six weeks.

A hearty lunch is served in the dining room at 12.30 – all cooked on-site using seasonal produce with 2 choices and options available for those that may have special requirements e.g. diabetics.

After lunch (before snack time!) there’s time to enjoy a visit from the hairdresser who is with us all day on Tuesday, go for a walk, catch up with friends or simply enjoy a leisure activity.

Tea is served at 5pm and/or a light supper is available later for those that prefer it.

Throughout the night we have our team of permanent carers on hand to help residents to prepare for the night time.

Our carers are on duty 24/7 so they are always available if they are needed.
